Our Opportunity:
Corporate Vendor Management at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. Corporate Vendor Management identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
Role Overview:
The Director, Data & Insights, will be responsible for leading a team accountable for all analytical needs of the Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) program. This includes providing analytical consulting and delivering data-driven insights to drive strategic engagement with CVM’s stakeholders and help leadership make business decisions. Key areas of responsibility for the Data & Insights team include data analysis and visualization, data quality and governance, ownership of and roadmap for the underlying platforms, business-led development, and creating and maintaining operational metrics and dashboards to deliver insights and impact to our stakeholders.

Key Outcomes:
- Lead a team of experienced data analysis, visualization, reporting, data governance and automation professionals to deliver timely, accurate, relevant, and value-added information to a range of stakeholders and executive decision makers.
- Work closely with business partners to build a strong, well defined engagement model that ensures optimal project scoping, prioritization, and execution to deliver business impact while balancing risk.
- Manage relationships and support resources to gain alignment across partners in Schwab’s Technology, Data, and Risk organizations.
- Measure and communicate the impact of the team’s work to ensure it is accessible, impactful, and drives business results.
- Partner with CVM functional leaders to determine their enterprise analytics and reporting needs and create solutions to meet these needs.
- Lead efforts to further mature and strengthen the CVM data governance and data quality program, including the creation of automated controls to monitor data quality.
- Lead the automation of CVM core operational metrics, to support business planning and aid leadership decision making.
- Further mature robust analytics and reporting around third party risk, spend, and savings.
- Leverage data to identify areas of opportunity, methods for increased efficiency and business partner experience.
- Capitalize on opportunities to use analytics tools available at Schwab; develop a perspective on the tools and technology required to deliver and build support for required future investments.
- Mature processes and procedures to support ongoing, agile delivery, including the use of Jira and other tools.
- Coordinate and support the use of Business-Led Development and Business-Led Analytics (RPA) tools and approaches in CVM, including any necessary governance requirements.
- Act as a consultant to provide recommendations to the CVM leadership team, based on data, analysis, and business implications.
- Champion the use of AI in CVM where appropriate and impactful.
- Accountable for the ownership of the CVM database, responsible for developing a vision to modernize the platforms and data pipeline over time.
- Ensure end results are of the highest quality with a quantifiable business benefit, and all activities and efforts are consistent with Schwab policies and guidelines.
- Support other ad-hoc requests, as needed.
