Educational Assistant IV - Severe Needs (Eagle Ridge Elementary)

About the Role
Douglas County School District seeks an Educational Assistant IV to work with special education students at Eagle Ridge Elementary. Provide critical support to teachers and students with severe needs in a rewarding educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with special needs team on activities and planning
- Administer and document prescription medications as directed
- Support IEP goals under teacher direction
- Assist students with daily functions including feeding and toileting
- Provide behavior support and life skills instruction
- Communicate with parents and school personnel
- May supervise classroom in teacher's absence
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in educational environment preferred
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Computer skills in word processing and databases
- Physical ability to lift 40-70 lbs occasionally
- Compassionate approach to working with special needs students
