About the Role
Douglas County School District is hiring a certified Sign Language Interpreter/Tutor to facilitate communication for deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings.
Responsibilities
- Interpret from spoken English to sign language and vice versa
- Maintain records related to services provided
- Serve as liaison between DHH students and school personnel
- Assist with deaf awareness orientation
- Respect confidentiality and adhere to IEPs
- Provide sound-based environmental information
- Collaborate with DHH and classroom teachers
- May provide tutoring services under teacher direction
- Participate in professional development
Requirements
- Educational Interpreter-Sign Language (PSE/ASL) - CDE
- Associate's degree in Education of the Deaf
- 1-3 years sign language interpreting experience preferred
