Backcountry Wilderness Area Sprouts Camp Aide

About the Role

Responsible for assisting with the teaching and guiding of a group of up to twelve preschool aged children in an outdoor nature-based setting at HRCA's Backcountry Wilderness Area.

Responsibilities

• Care for and maintain health and safety of up to twelve preschool aged children
• Facilitate activities on topics including animals, birds, insects, habitats, rocks, water, and plants
• Actively supervise and engage with children throughout the program
• Help teach age-appropriate social emotional skills
• Supervise children during outdoor exploratory play including tree climbing, campfires, and tool use
• Take and submit photos via Brightwheel
• Set up, clean up, and maintain all program supplies

Requirements

• Minimum age 18 years
• Enthusiasm for working with young children
• Prior experience with young children in professional setting preferred
• Basic science and nature knowledge
• Passion for nature and the outdoors
• Current First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain before start)
• Must pass background check and drug screening
