Day Camp Leader

Assists with supervision, coordination and implementation of school-age programs in a Day Camp setting. Plans, leads and instructs a variety of activities for participants. Coordinates and assists with various programming functions such as: planning, reporting, etc., and has the qualifications to be the acting Day Camp Facilitator per Human Services requirements when needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and instructs activities and participants. Works closely with co-workers to motivate, evaluate, and guide/redirect participants. Attend staff meetings and communicate necessary information to relevant people.
- Demonstrates excellent public relations and customer service skills when communicating verbally and in writing with participants, parents, community organizations, and recreation staff.
- Aids in the development of programs for all school-age levels and interests to meet the needs of the community. Instrumental in developing and creating comprehensive programming that includes Arts and crafts, Sports and games, Music and drama field trips.
- Maintains and follows guidelines set by the Colorado Department of Human Services and the HRCA.
- Maintains a professional attitude while supporting the objectives of the Day Camp Program.
- Treats all children with dignity and respect.
Requirements
- Requires a thorough knowledge of school age recreation programming. Ability to help supervise and assist with implementation of appropriate activity planning, guiding/redirecting techniques, and leadership skills. Requires excellent communication, written, verbal, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to substitute for a Facilitator. Examples of competencies include: Opening and closing duties; Answering parent questions; Returning phone calls; Assisting with work in the office; Entering information into the computer; Ability to adjust the schedule in an emergency; Ability to be contacted in an emergency. Must meet all Human Services requirements and attend all scheduled summer trainings.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
